From what I've heard, this company was pretty big back in the early 80's, I think they held out until about 86, but I can't be sure. I think they had a lot of scuffles in management, in fact I think two of the people who founded Imagine games, the ill-fated company, walked out of BugByte just monthes before! I have a few of their games on original tapes, and there is an offer of a t-shirt with the BugByte logo on it - if you have one, I'd like a picture! :-)
Please contact me if you have any additional information about the company or its games!

The classic Caterpiller game, rehased for the umpteenth time, this one is terrible, you have a less than zero chance of winning each level, because the centipede seems to reach the bottom of the screen so fast. Then it moves back up the screen at an alarming rate, should you have gotten out of the way quick enough, it is just too fast. Has to be one of the all time worst clones of Centipede!

Another boring Space Invaders variant, this time with the most featureless graphics ever seen. They are also some of the smallest, and move much too fast in relation to the bullets from your gun. This makes it very hard to hit things, even at close range. Somehow this makes you think of the BBC's reputation for 'mediocre' games.

A lovely platform game, this one has a lot of appeal. It doesn't have much originality, all you have to do is collect the torches on each level, killing baddies by using your shield as they collide with you, and dodging obstacles. It is quite well done though.

I think this is the only Ice Hockey game on the Beeb, probably because we just don't play it over here in England! I think it is pretty good, although I've never managed to score a goal! The graphics are nice, and it has a really nice tune to it. The only thing is it is a bit annoying when you just control one skater, who has to cover the whole of the arena!

This one is actually quite good, it is a massive scrolling platform game, with nice graphics, and some good enough gameplay. You have to go around collecting the prizes, without crashing into snails, falling off high platforms and making the best of ladders and lifts which you need to traverse in order to complete the game. Looks to me as if it is based on Jack and the beanstalk, as all of the platforms look like they are beanstalks.

Apalling version of the classic Asteroids game, this is made unplayable by the fact that your ship is almost totally unplayable, and even so, the rocks move around as if they're on drugs, way too eratic and much too fast. The best version of this is definitly Meteors by Acornsoft.

Probably one of Bugbytes last ever games, this was released in 1988, this title is only average. Its typical Beeb fare, dodge the arrows on a grid whilst trying to get all the bananas on the level. Its very difficult and is all about timing, its definitely worth a play though.
